Meknes, the “hundred minarets city” is the smallest of the imperial cities. That is also its charm. The peace you will find here means you can best enjoy the richness of its historical heritage, classified by UNESCO. The former sultan’s capital, protected by about forty kilometres of ramparts, invites you to discover its Moorish and Moslem architectural masterpieces: Bab El Mansour gate, known worldwide, the Great Mosque dating from the 12th century, the medina and vestiges of the royal palace. And then the souks and craftsmen’s quarters will take you back to a truly modern and living Morocco.
